It doesn't matter if I'm writing songs or poems, singing, photographing, cooking, painting, gardening or designing, my inspiration always starts from home, Canada. I feel like this place informs everything I do: its natural beauty, vastness, diverse geographies, people from all over the world living in relative harmony, many cultures forming one identity, risk-taking arts. While much remains to do to improve Canada -- reconciling the horrific past wrought upon our first nations peoples and better supporting all people of colour's future here, doing everything in our power to mitigate the unfolding global catastrophe of climate change -- it is a privilege to live here with Canada's vast breathtaking beauty.

Until recently, I managed a non-profit music organization, grant-writing (lots of grant-writing!), fundraising, developing and overseeing a facility, producing and promoting music artists, concerts, workshops - hundreds in my career. But today, in semi-retirement, I'm working on creating and feeling the sand between my toes, trying to grow stuff in my new gardens, teaching a little, and freelancing.​

I'm proud to have recently released my debut solo album, Break of Day: Songs for Colin, dedicated to my late amazing son, Colin Earl Bell, who is forever the light of my life. I'm making some new musical friends and looking forward to performing more in my new Nova Scotia home.

I'm nearing completion of my first solo book of poems, My Heart Is About To Break Into A Billion Pieces, hopefully for a 2027 distribution, that includes some great poems of Colin's. 

My ongoing photography project, The Maritime Beach, aims to capture the beaches of Atlantic Canada and how we occupy them.

And, I've been doing lots of building (a tiny house, guest house) and renovating!
